The Hidden Mother in Bishop’s â€Å"One Art† In comparing Dylan Thomas and Elizabeth Bishop’s meditation on the relevance of the poet, it is pertinent to use a sequential analysis of the two poems hereby discussed. Bishop’s â€Å"One Art† is the result of a careful development of Thomas’ â€Å"Do not Go to Gentle Into That Good Night,† in which she explores her capacity to critique a poet’s speaker with a subtlety that scholars and students may find almost impossible to decipher. In this, rather experimental essay, layers of her expertism are expounded through the deceptive figure of the mother whose mention is covertly present. Women were only for a moment part of the social role during the early twentieth century and were primarily given the reproductive role which limited them to raising children and taking care of their households and husbands. Susan Glaspell, a writer in the early twentieth century, lived during that time. As a result, most of Glaspell’s drama finds fault with society’s restricting view of women. In Raleigh’s interview about this song he made, he states that Time in A Tree is about needing some peace. Some respite, some time away from your own mind. The ways that you can get in your own way on the way to those things. Its about the fear of not being deserving of happiness, or that youre not doing enough to get the kind of happiness you want. Its about needing validation and confirmation that youre loved and supported when youre struggling. Its about needing time in a tree, like a kid off the ground and halfway in the sky. The video starts off with some elevator music as Raleigh walks into an elevator while holding a small tree. It proceeds with a mother and her toddler song while he talks about how he remembers his childhood and how he would like to go back to that time again while he is climbing a tree. â€Å"Time in A Tree† serves as a metaphor for seeking out a sense of escapism; a little bit of peace from the noise around you and in your mind. Sometimes you just want to keep running from these problems because you do not know how to deal with it and how to fix it. He also references Billy Joe’s song â€Å"Viennaâ €™, and how it is about how he can do all of this, but not all at once. Just take it one step at a time. You do not have to rush all these things, because if you do, you might become drained and lose motivation. The verse â€Å"I’ve seen things that I never should have seen. Said too many things I didn’t mean. Hurt myself too many times to count, I need to let it out and just release†, is about him being angry as a kid, internally, and how he would conflict injuries on himself from punching inanimate objects. Raleigh explains how if he were able to go back in time, he would love to hug his younger self and tell him that everything will be alright. Being able to go back and tell your younger self that everything is going to be alright is something that most people would do. Thinking back, some people did not have such a great childhood, looking back it now, you are somewhat grateful for it because it shaped you into the person you are now. Furthermore, the use of these renewable energy resources can provide us with long-term ready supply of energy without the possibility of causing serious damages to our health and environment. On the other hand, wind turbines are also considered as another powerful source of electricity since the energy generated from the wind... It can be derived from the report and the previous research conducted on the topic that a sustainable community is attainable provided that there is a balance between the economy, the society and the environment. Due to the growing population of human beings around the world, increased in human activities could alter the climate condition of our natural environment. As a common knowledge, the existing energy sources in the United States are vital to the economic development and progress. In fact, a significant increase on the demand for energy would mean the need to increase the energy supply coming from different sources of energy. In response to the increasing demand for energy resources, the United States government is spending approximately US$500 billion each year in the development of energy sources alone. With the presence of sufficient energy supply, the local manufacturers will be able to produce consumer good items to meet the increasing local and international demand. For this reason, the U.S. Department of Energy has been relying over the use of different energy sources including: bioenergy, coal, electric power, fossil fuels, fusion, geothermal, hydrogen, hydropower, natural gas, nuclear, oil, solar and wind energy. The negative long-term socio-economic, environmental, and health benefits associated with the use of fossil fuel is more than the challenges associated with the use of renewable energy resources.
