Womens Roles 2000 Overall, the rights and status of women have improved considerably in the last century; however, gender equality has been threatened within the asphyxiate two decades. Blatantly sexist laws and practices are slowly be eliminated while social perceptions of womens roles continue to stagnate and even subvert back to traditional ideals.
